Launched in 2025, METIUM is a 36-month Horizon Europe project. The consortium is formed by an EU-wide interdisciplinary and complementary team, encompassing 19 partners from across Europe.
METIUM brings together a strong and complementary consortium of 19 organisations from across Europe, including research institutions, industrial partners, recycling companies, technology providers, and innovation clusters.
The partnership combines expertise across the entire Urban Mining value chain—from collection and dismantling to pre-processing and advanced hydrometallurgical recovery—ensuring an integrated and scalable approach to Strategic Raw Materials recovery.
With a strong presence in both leading and Less Developed Regions, the consortium fosters cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation. This diverse network enables METIUM to develop and demonstrate efficient, industrial-ready recycling solutions while strengthening Europe’s circular economy and resource independence.
Together, the consortium is building the foundation for a new, circular approach to resource management in Europe, where waste is transformed into valuable materials, innovation drives sustainable growth, and collaboration ensures long-term resilience and resource independence.
